Eligibility Criteria:

 

  1. Must be an active member of the Alamo Chapter of the APA
  2. Must qualify under either Criteria 1, 2 or 3 of the APA’s certification requirements to qualify for the CPP exam in order to attend the Study Group.  Requirements are available under the Certifications section of the APA website at www.americanpayroll.org/cpp-info.html.
  3. If seeking CPP recertification, Criteria 1, 2 or 3 do not apply.

 

Course Description:

 

  • Thirteen-week instructed course to be held each Thursday from 6-8pm starting June 2rd  through August 25th plus 4 additional weeks of instructor-led review each Thursday from 6pm-8pm staring September 1nd through September 22rd .  Classes will be held at Carneiro, Chumney, & Co., L.C., 410 NE Loop 410, Suite 235 (Loop 410 & McCullough, Wells Fargo Bldg.).  Further directions will be provided.
  • In addition to the Payroll Source text as a study tool, participants will be required to complete the APA online learning tool, Knowledge Assessment Calculator “Preparing for the Certified Payroll Professional Exam” assessment at the beginning of the course to assist instructors in targeting areas of instruction where the class and individuals need additional practice.  The same assessment will be taken at the close of the class to evaluate the individual’s progress and understanding.
  • Materials included in registration fee are:
    • APA Payroll Source, 2011 Edition ($280 value)
    • APA Knowledge Assessment Calculator ($20 value -- 1 assessment per student taken once during the course at $20 per assessment) – web-based tool to identify your strengths and weaknesses in the six areas of the payroll body of knowledge.
    • A set of 2011 Flash-cards for study purposes ($20.00 value)
  • Credits for full class attendance: RCHs: 24; CEUs: 2.4; CPEs: 24
  • Attendees must attend a minimum of 10 classes, not including the Introduction/KAC testing, to receive the certificate of completion.  Sign-in to each class is required in order to obtain certification credit hours.
